Julie is a Registered Professional Counsellor with over 15 years experience working with couples and individuals. As a member in good standing with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association she also holds a diploma in Transpersonal Psychology from Clearmind International Institute and a bachelor degree in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Ottawa. With many years of professional development Julie has a particular interest in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and individuals (EFT), AEDP and a special interest in family systems theory, trauma and addiction, attachment theory and a deep interest in current and cross-cultural models of dealing with death and dying.
As an insightful and compassionate therapist, Julie is committed to helping people and couples find more empowerment in their lives by facilitating and creating deeper and more enriching connections to the self and others. She offers a dynamic, safe and innovative approach to her practice which focuses on removing barriers to emotional intimacy and growth.
The general approach she takes can help remove you from a state of powerlessness, to one of empowerment where you become directed from the inside out and learn how to tap into and make use of your own personal resources. Your biggest problems and struggles in life can be transformed into your greatest learning’s and gifts to yourself and your relationships.
She offers her clients the opportunity to recognize old, habituated patterns and dynamics in order to learn new, more productive methods of communicating. She appreciates that each person will approach the therapeutic process at their own pace and she will gently help guide her clients towards realizing a new experience for themselves.
